L’Aventure du Sucre offers a totally new experience: an immersive journey to the heart of a

former 19th-century sugar factory, transformed to offer a lively, vibrant and resolutely modern

view of Mauritius.

Over 5,000 m² of captivating space, the museum reveals the deep links between the world of

sugar and the soul of Mauritius. The tour tells the story of the men and women from Africa,

India, Europe and China who, through their hard work and resilience, have built a unique

multicultural society.

We then explore the superpowers of cane, the secrets of sugar production, a thermal power plant

that produces electricity from its fiber, and an interactive distillery where we learn all about rums.

This immersive tour highlights the ingenuity of a people and the evolution of a pioneering sector,

now focused on the major challenges of agro-technology and the energy transition.
