Black River Gorges Hike

3 hours

Easy

Guided hike from the lower entrance of Black River Gorges National Park, with viewpoints and the "bat valley" of Mare aux Joncs.

Explore Black River Gorges National Park, the largest national park in Mauritius and home to the echo parakeet, the Mauritius kestrel and the pink pigeon.

The hike climbs to a series of viewpoints over the park. Halfway up you reach the Mare aux Joncs gorge — the "bat valley" — where thousands of Mauritian fruit bats can be seen.
